Microsoft has ordered another season of Felicia Day’s internet-popular “The Guild” series, and they sure are going to get it.
The Guild follows the day to day life of Felicia Day’s character “Codex” after she meets her World of Warcraft gaming friends in real life. She originally wrote the first 10-episode run in her “off-season” of acting jobs, and filmed it completely on PayPal donations and sheer power of will in 2007. Microsoft ordered the second season of “The Guild” which was financed through Sprint, who will also sponsor the third season.
Felicia will appear at Comic-Con International in July, but promised not to give up any plot details. She agrees that the cliffhanger in Season 2 was pretty crazy and adds that “the repercussions of that will be felt by The Guild. Expect a lot of real-life distractions for the characters and some hurt feelings from the last season.”
She also mentioned, “It’s exciting, after doing ‘Dr. Horrible,’ to produce my own show and being able to hold out for the deal with Microsoft. It’s starting to pay off for me.” After the first season, when she first shopped her internet sensation around, she passed on a few deals that took away creative control until Microsoft came along and allowed her to do her own thing.
