Paul Fryer’s Chess Set for Tesla–of which there are only 7–lights up when the vacuum tube pieces are plugged into the board. It’s awesome to boot, but extra points for being more Retro-Futuristic than Steampunk.
The wooden board measures 17 x 48 x 50 centimeters and houses all of the electrical components. The 32 pieces are glass vacuum tubes of varying size and shape with the symbol for each piece on top. The pictures skew any sense of scale, but the shortest and tallest pieces are is 10 and 15 centimeters respectively. It mostly resembles a regular chess set save for, you know, the awesome lighting up that it does.
