Scribblenauts, the DS game we anticipate most this month, is a world of endless imagination and wonder. Throughout the course of the game, you help the main character collect all of the Starites by solving a series of seemingly simple puzzles. The imagination and wonder come in when you find out that you solve these puzzles by creating any item you can think of.
For five months, 5th Cell (the Scribblenauts developer) had a team of people do nothing but comb dictionaries and encyclopedias to build their 10,000+ database of items. If it exists in real life, you can make it in the game. Anything that isn’t copyrighted, vulgar or a proper noun can instantly be created and the best part is, all of these items work just as they would in real life. Lions attack people, black holes suck stuff up, grenades explode, flamethrowers throw flame and so on.
There haven’t been too many chances for a hands-on looks at the game so far, but the Joystiq Scribblenauts Challenge ended in a video that we think best showcases the game so far. Pop over and take a look to get your Scribblenauts fix until next month when the game hits the shelves.
Scribblenauts will be released on September 15, 2009.
