We seriously can’t wait to kick some Covenant ass as an Orbital Drop Shock Trooper. Under the command of the battle-hardened Buck (voiced by Nathan Fillion) there’s nothing we can’t do. But just how badass is an ODST? They’re like the Navy SEALs of the future. I know SPARTANs are legendary and all, and that’s cool. But seriously–these guys drop in from space with nothing more than a gun and a prayer.
After witnessing Master Chief struggle through hordes of Covenant baddies, only to remain miraculously unscathed, I’m ready to see things from a different point of view. This time around the alien shooting portion of the game takes a backseat to the the squad-based, noir-mystery elements. Don’t get me wrong, I love blasting through aliens as much as the next guy, but an unraveling mystery in an open-world environment brings so much to the table.
The below commercial for Halo 3: ODST shows off the character-driven story element in its own, live-action way.
“You know the music. Time to dance.”
