Updated: Top Gear’s Jeremy Clarkson and the M12 Force Application Vehicle

Update: I just found out that while the M12 Force Application Vehicle “Warthog” will be making an appearance in Forza Motorsport 4, the car will not be driveable. Upsetting though it may be, Turn 10′s decisions for not including the car are commendable. As Dan Greenawalt of Turn 10 puts it

“We didn’t want to soil the ability to say all of the simulation in Forza 4, when you turn off all of the assists, is drop dead, absolutely as good as we could have got it. They didn’t give us tyres from nanotube technology from 2525.”

As bad ass as drifting around a true-to-life racetrack with a UNSC issued Warthog would have been, I don’t think you can blame them.

Jeremy Clarkson from Top Gear and the Warthog

Top Gear is a show that I can’t get enough of. It pairs my love for cars I’ll never make enough money to own with smooth-as-butter British accents book-ended with the contrasting growl of 500 brake horsepower engines and the subtle beauty of limited-slip differentials. That said, despite most cars being made up of the same basic components, you don’t often hear about liquid-cooled hydrogen-injected ICE engines, ballistic polycarbonate hulls or carbon nanotube tires. Forza Motorsport 4 finally puts these things together for us (it’s about time, I know) in a clip narrated by the famous (and infamous) Jeremy Clarkson.

The video tells us that the M12 Force Application Vehicle “Warthog” (or to some, “Puma”) will make a driveable appearance in the upcoming Forza Motorsport 4, a game normally known for being the most realistic racing simulator out there. Can’t wait to see how that goes.
