At first glance, the Brooklyn Superhero Supply Co. is a spoof website that fake superheroes can visit to “purchase” costumes, disguises, maps of the negative zone, bottled invisibility; you know, the usual stuff. So, I browsed around and added a few things to my cart only to find that all of these products are completely purchasable. So, if the Brooklyn Superhero Supply Co. is a real website that sells real products, maybe this is where real superheroes come for their real superhero supply needs.

Now, stick with me here, but a Secret Identity starter kit is just $20. I think it goes much deeper than that. I think the actual products are just a front for what’s really going on. Yeah, I’m sure they would gladly send some unknowing schmuck a wig and fake glasses for a bit of fun but with the right promo code at checkout they’ll give you a full workup. Birth certificates, social security cards, high school promo photos, financial history, the whole nine yards.

I think I’ve stumbled onto huge something here. If you’re reading this now, they’re after me. I’m sure of it. They know where I live, where I work and though they supply the good guys, I’m sure I’m just a speck in the grand scheme. A speck of dust, just waiting to be blown away. They’re here. Get out.

This year, Archaia will be releasing a graphic novel series based on the Jim Henson’s The Storyteller television series. The books will be compilations from all sorts of wonderful people and still hold to the themes set forth in the original Storyteller series. Put simply, some of my favorite writers and illustrators are bringing back the magic that made The Storyteller so much fun. Oh, and I’m sure anyone that’s seen the show is going to have a pretty difficult time not doing the voices.

The Archaia site lists all sorts of people involved, including “Roger Langridge (The Muppet Show comic, Thor the Mighty Avenger), Marjorie Liu (Black Widow), Ron Marz (Green Lantern, Artifacts), Jeff Parker (Thor, Thunderbolts), Francesco Francavilla (Detective Comics), Chris Eliopoulos (Franklin Richards) and Janet Lee (Return of the Dapper Men). Plus: a never-before-seen story adapted from a screenplay by The Storyteller’s original author, Academy Award® winner Anthony Minghella (The English Patient).”

You can get a sneak peek of the first book on the Archaia website, and the set up they have lets you read it like you would a real comic. Katie Cook also gave us a sneak peek of her part, and says that she was asked to work in a very different style than she’s used to. “It’s not quite as cutesy-wootsy-shmootsy as I currently work. It’s different, I got a chance to branch out a bit and I had a great time doing it.” Here’s a small slice of her part, but you’ll have to pick up the book when it comes out to see the rest.

Super suave comics creator Ted Naifeh posted about one of his many upcoming projects, a brand new story from Jim Henson’s Labyrinth. Naifeh will be writing the story alongside Adrianne Ambrose and it will be illustrated by Cory Godbey. I’ve read enough Naifeh to know the story will stand out but I’ve only just started looking into some of Godbey’s work. Suffice it to say, even just a glance is enough to get my blood flowing.

The Labyrinth story will be printed among a few other tales in a 48 page hardcover, all completely free. That’s right, Archaia is printing this hardcover and giving it away to fans on Free Comic Book Day. Even better, everything found in the book is completely original work, not reprints or excerpts from other books.

Anything Labyrinth is enough to get me giddy but brand new Labyrinth involving Naifeh, Ambrose and Godbey…I’m freakin’ out.

Officially titled Mouse Guard, Labyrinth and Other Stories, the offering will be a shining example of Archaia’s commitment to produce high-quality graphic novels, despite its free price tag.

As a promotion for Mission Impossible: Ghost Protocol, Bad Robot has released the Action Movie FX app. It allows you to film a boring scene with your iPhone and add the decidedly un-boring effect of your choice. The free app includes two scenes, Missile Attack! and Car Smash with two other FX Packs available for 99 cents each. Shelling out the two extra bucks allows for effects like Chopper Down, Tornado, Air Strike and Fire Fight. All of the effects you can add look quite realistic and professional, especially for a video made on your iPhone.

Paul Christoforo, prior to the last few days, was just a guy with a small business. Just some crazy guy outsourced by N-Control to handle marketing for The Avenger gaming controller. It all started when Paul made a slight misstep in his response to an e-mail about the ship date of the product. He then proceeded to make quite a lot of missteps in a row while simultaneously working to wrangle the English language into something understandable.

Paul went ahead and made the whole thing worse by dropping names of all the people that he knows and, get this, mentioning the Penny Arcade Expo. What started as a petty back and forth between a justifiably upset customer and a crappy PR guy was sent along to Mike Krahulik, co-founder of Penny Arcade and the Penny Arcade Expo. This is about where shit gets real, and fast.

Once Mike got involved and Paul kept trying to throw his weight around, it was all over. This is about when Mike posted the whole string of emails on Penny Arcade and the internet got hold of it. The next morning, after the internet had their way with this guy and this ridiculous story, Paul sent a one line email to Mike, “You have the power Mike Please make it stop”.

My favorite part about this entire thing is Mike’s quote, the reason he always gets involved in things like this when people are real jerks.

I think there is a big difference between being sorry and being sorry you got caught. I have a real problem with bullies. I spent my childhood moving from school to school and I got made fun of everyplace I landed. I feel like Paul is a bully and maybe that’s why I have no sympathy here. Someday every bully meets and even bigger bully and maybe that’s me in this case. It’s the same thing that happened with Jack Thompson. It might not always make the most business sense and it is a policy that has caused us some legal problems, but I really don’t give a shit about that. When these assholes threaten me or Penny Arcade I just laugh.

I will personally burn everything I’ve made to the fucking ground if I think I can catch them in the flames.
