Here's a clever video made possible by lots and lots of post-production editing. The idea is quite simple but the effect they achieve is priceless.

Draw Something is a social Pictionary iPhone app that allows for a casual Pictionary experience with friends and a million and a half laughs.

That would be my tagline if I had created Draw Something and was the guy that wrote taglines for cool apps. OMGPOP has removed the normal Pictionary time limit, allowing for an iPhone game that can be played as you and your friends find time. This takes away any pressure to play and allows for a much more casual game. Also, you and your friends try to draw things with your finger on a tiny screen which creates some interesting results.

Some of my friend’s drawings have both stumped and amazed me and I’m sure mine have had the same effect on them.

A few of mine are okay, meaning they can be guessed with relative ease, but then there’s the big leagues. I came across a blog entitled Bobby’s Draw Something Addiction and the man’s a master of fake Pictionary. Granted, drawing is probably a bit easier on an iPad (which I think he uses) but there’s still an artist on the other end of the thing. Take a look at some of his drawings, and try not to laugh at mine any more than you have to.

There is a free version for those out there that don’t trust me, but a paid version ($.99) that’s worth the extra in-game coins it gets you. These coins can be spent on extra colors, something you’ll need if you’re serious about this whole iPhone Pictionary hobby of yours.

The Mercedes-Benz Hydrogen F-Cell B-Series is a 0.0 emissions vehicle, making it “emissions invisible”. To promote this idea of being “invisible to the environment”, Mercedes made an actual car invisible.

By covering the car in LEDs on one side and mounting a camera on the other, the effect is one of complete invisibility. The cleverness of it all is worth the minute-and-a-half of your time it will cost you.

While the science behind the inner-workings is quite…sciency, the car runs on “polymer electrolyte membrane” fuel cells, a hydrogen battery of sorts. This means no internal combustion which means no environment-choking emissions. Regular models of the car don’t come with the invisibility option but I’m sure now that they’ve got the whole zero emissions thing down, active personal cloaking devices are next on the list.

Penny Arcade really likes pie, and by that I mean they have their proverbial fingers in a lot of proverbial pies. They have their children-need-games-in-hospitals charity foundation Child’s Play, their very own video game convention the Penny Arcade Expo, Penny Arcade Television, and their most recent pie-endeavor, The Penny Arcade Report. Launched only days ago, the Penny Arcade Report is PA’s swing at the aimlessly shuffling hobo that gaming journalism has become. It all started last month when Tycho wrote a post foreshadowing the coming of a “fix” for gaming news:

There’s an incredibly short list of people I trust to tell me the truth about the industry, even if I don’t always want to hear it, and Ben Kuchera is on top of that list. You may already be a reader of his at Ars Technica, where he’s been in charge of their gaming coverage for… well, ever. Until today, I guess, when I hired him.

We’re bringing him on to create industry coverage you can read without holding your nose, essentially; I want a perspective, I want a Curator for the Internet’s gaming content. In a couple words, I want something less insulting and disposable.

We used to rail about IGN in our innocence, back when we couldn’t imagine anything worse. News is pretty much busted at the moment; you may be shocked to hear it, but deadlines every twenty minutes put you on the wrong side of quality versus quantity. We have a track record of seeing broken things, and making an attempt to fix them; this is our attempt, and Ben is at the core of that. I’ve wanted something like this for awhile, and so we’ve begun to make it. Of course, you’re welcome to read it as well.

Gabe then introduced us to the Penny Arcade Report officially and explained in detail exactly it is. He talks about how he feels about the gaming journalism and how the PAR will be different. He also explains “The Cut”, a feature that highlights any gems they come across in an otherwise endless march of worthless words.

In short the PAR is what we want to see from games journalism. It does not update every twenty minutes. It is not just a source for press releases, and we are not interested in top ten lists. The PAR is focused on longer form journalism with in-depth research and interviews. To that end we have hired Ben Kuchera to deliver just that. Besides creating a bunch of original content Ben will also be curating a feature we call “The Cut”. The goal of the Cut is to recognize excellent gaming journalism on other sites as well. We won’t be pulling out all the choice bits and posting them on our site though. We want you to go visit this other site and read the content there. So we’re offering a link to the story and a quick note about why it’s worth your time. We hope to encourage the sort of journalism you’ll be seeing on the PA Report in other places as well.

I have very high hopes for the PAR. Every article on the site so far has been worth my time and considering their previous projects, I don’t see their standards dropping anytime soon.

The Miniatur Wunderland attraction, nestled somewhere in Hamburg, Germany, is the largest attraction of its kind in the world. I like sharing this fact because this means Miniatur Wunderland is the largest, tiny attraction in existence complete with trains, airplanes, cars, trucks, boats and so much more. Pictures simply don’t do it justice. Cars drive themselves, fire trucks respond to fires, boats sail the seas, planes take off and land. The whole thing is miraculous.

Each day in the Miniatur Wunderland, 900 trains with 12,000 wagons travel several hundred kilometers. There are 250 computer controlled vehicles that drive themselves around town. The Fire Brigade responds dynamically to fires that break out and the police pull over anyone disobeying the law. On top of all that, there are over 200 push-button actions that allow visitors to actively participate in the attractions.

But wait, there’s more! The staff of Miniatur Wunderland are currently at work building new sections covering France, Italy and parts of Africa. At this rate, they’ll have a scale model of the entire Earth within 10 years. Take a look at this amazing attraction in their official video or if you’re anywhere near Hamburg, stop in!

Instead of buying four different devices that you’re going to use everyday, designer Prashant Chandra’s Lifebook concept combines them all. It’s completely compartmentalized and usable separate, but when you put it together, you have one device that’s a lot less redundant.

The proposed Lifebook is a laptop computer concept based on the principle of “shared hardware”. Currently a lot of hardware is wasted when we use separate devices, as there is often a lot of “repeat” of data stored and features. For example if I have my songs on my music player, why do I have to block the same amount of storage on my laptop? Similarly, if I have a processor sitting in my tablet, why can it not also run/assist my laptop? If I have a fully functional camera with its own memory and image processing power, why do I need to have it repeated in my laptop?

It’s on mobile phones mostly, but now I see it running on tablets and nooks and the Kindles (oh my!). Such wide use sets a standard and moves away from the idea that everything should be proprietary. At the 2012 Consumer Electronics Show, Polaroid unveiled a camera that will change the way cameras are looked at, all made possible by the Android operating system.

The Polaroid SC1630 Smart Camera is a camera like no other camera before it. Not because it has the most megapixels or the best digital zoom but because Polaroid decided to make it more than a camera. Looking at the pictures, the SC1630 looks a lot like a smart phone with a big old camera attached and essentially, that’s what it is. With a 3.2 inch touch-enabled, widescreen display, most people that have used an Android phone or tablet will have no problem picking one up.

Cameras have been moving toward this sort of innovation for a while now, but through the use of the Android operating system, Polaroid has exponentially increased the usability and functionality of the phone without having to do the work themselves. The SC1630 can install and run existing Android apps, including those that make taking and editing pictures easy, fun and accessible. With built-in wireless capabilities, users can take, edit, crop and share photos from the same device. Upload your favorite photos to Facebook directly from your camera just as you would with a smartphone, except with all the capabilities of a regular camera.

Outside of being a step in the right direction for Polaroid, I’m confident that other camera companies will soon realize what a big deal this basic design shift is. As it stands, many people have sated their need for point and shoot cameras with smartphones, seeing how smartphones have surpassed most consumer-grade cameras while still maintaining a quality good enough for Tumblr or Facebook. A camera with the same functionality of a smartphone will begin to regain some of the market share lost to the EVOs and iPhones.

Decades ago, people dreamed of flying cars and robot housemaids, but Liquipel is a product that really shows off what “the future” can be. Liquipel is a “nano-coating” that aids in keeping your electronic devices safe in the event of accidental exposure to water or other liquids. It isn’t a “case” but a “treatment” applied to your phone. For just $59 and the price of shipping (which is “Grand Opening Free” right now) you can have your whole phone coated in a virtually undetectable shield.

This is where we delve into the harder-to-believe part. Liquipel isn’t something that protects your device in case of a slight liquid exposure. There’s a demo video of the Liquipel team completely submerging a working, powered-on iPhone in water, taking it back out again and proceeding as normal. While they suggest not actually submerging your phone just to wow your friends, it’s a very powerful demonstration of how mind-blowing Liquipel really is.
